The aim of the Advance Passenger Index is to anticipate as far as possible the behaviour of the passenger transport market. The Advance Passenger Index is compiled on the basis of a short monthly questionnaire on the demand for transport received in undertakings in the current month, the actual passengers in the previous month and the passenger expectations for the following month.
As it is a monthly index, it is possible to verify the degree of fulfilment of one month's orders that are transformed into real services in the following month and how its variation has an upward or downward influence as orders are transformed into actual invoicing. This index is currently being designed by the team of the Transport Economics Chair of the Carlos III University directed by Mr. Álvaro Escribano.
